It’s here, in full force…The Christmas Rush…here for another 2 weeks.  I’m hanging onto my cowboy hat; are you?

Only yesterday I received this email from a friend.  It froze me in my tracks, and it’s worth sharing…and pondering.

Who Started Christmas?

This morning I heard a story on the radio of a woman who was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable, and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.  She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year – overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card. Finally the elevator doors opened, and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn’t take it anymore and stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up, and shot.”

From the back of the car everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond, “Don’t worry, we already crucified Him.”

For the rest of the trip down the elevator it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don’t forget this year to keep HIM in your Christmas.

I’ll go on record saying I’m a firm believer of the HIM in Christmas, but even if you are not, I encourage you to remember again why we go through all this hassle.  We do it to show how much we care for those we love.  It’s the Party of the Year for Americans, no doubt…but pace yourselves in your preparations to spend time with your family & friends.  BREATHE…don’t curse. 🙂

And don’t forget to enjoy the season on the dance floor – our CHRISTMAS DANCE is TOMORROW at 7 pm in Warrenville(3S240 Warren Avenue; $5 cover)!  We’ve got THREE HOURS of Christmas music ready for you, with 2 (maybe 3!) new Christmas line dances as well.  Don’t worry; you’ll know most of the dances – but they’ll feel different danced to Christmas songs!  We’ll dance County Line Cha Cha to Toby’s All I Want For Christmas & Wonderland Waltz to What Child Is This, and a bunch more.  Come join us, and bring a dish to pass (it’s party time)!  All ages are welcome.

Our CLASS FIELD TRIP is THIS SUNDAY at Cadillac Ranch in Bartlett ( from 6 pm – 11 pm ($12 for all-you-can-eat buffet, 2 drinks, & dancing or $5 to just dance).  We sit to the side of the DJ and look forward to dancing with you!  The DJ will alternate 4-5 line dances/4-5 couples dances all night long so you’ll have PLENTY of time to practice what you’ve learned!

Also, a reminder that I’m heading up to Toby Keith’s Bar & Grill in Rosemont SATURDAY DECEMBER 29 at 7 pm to see what’s what over there.  If there’s music playing, I’ll be dancing!  Feel free to meet me there.

As always – I’ll see you on the dance floor!
