A couple of weeks ago I visited Washington Island, which is the northernmost tip of Door County, Wisconsin. It's only accessible by a half hour ferry ride. The locals are very friendly, and I talked to a lot of them when I was up there. It fascinates me that only 710 people live there year-round. In every conversation, I kept hearing the same thing: it's lovely to live here, but you've got to be good with yourself. There's just not a lot to do, and in the winter months the ferry only runs once a day. The whole island has one automobile service station, one gift shop, one grocery store, three churches, and about a dozen restaurants. Yep, that's it. It's only 35 square miles.
On Washington Island, you've got to be good with yourself because you have to be able to keep yourself busy and be alone and not go crazy. That really stuck with me. I like to be alone, but I also like to be with people. I've been asking myself since I left, am I good with myself? I would love to live up there because of its beauty, remoteness, and proximity to the water. But could I be primarily with ME, and not groups of people, and be content? I'm not sure. I am good with myself, and who I am, but…… The folks from Washington Island have given me a lot to ponder.

Finally, we will be dancing at a NEW VENUE, Tequila Roadhouse (920 E. Roosevelt Rd. in West Chicago) on Friday, November 2nd, from 7-10 ($7 cover). DJ JEFF will be hosting our country night of lines and couples; he knows what we like and always has new songs for us to enjoy! Come join the dance party; if it works out, we will be returning regularly! The staff at the restaurant is looking forward to our arrival and there's been a lot of interest in having country nights there!
See you on the dance floor; you are loved!
